How to be a Christian Citizen in a Post-Christian America
“Is America becoming post-Christian? How should Christians react? Is it time to withdraw from politics? Was the Religious Right wrong? Are the new evangelical progressives right? We’ll think together about biblical guidance about government and political life, look at some key contemporary issues (life, health care, climate change, and religious freedom), and see how the Reformed tradition guides us.”
Reshaping the Church Around Genuine Gospel Community
What kind of church will thrive in our day? Those with the best preacher, worship model or most attractive programs? Maybe, but I wonder if something more foundational is necessary to undergird and sustain the worship and the work of the church? I think the answer is found in building genuine gospel community, where we connect and share our lives and faith together in gospel message and mission. I’m convinced the church that understands and embraces genuine gospel community will thrive in our day. Can SPEP be that kind of church? You bet it can! Come and join us as we look together at a biblical and practical perspective on what it means to be a genuine gospel community and how encouraging, attractive and powerful that can be for the people of God as well as those outside the church.

Introduction to SPEP
What is so amazing about grace? How do I grow in spiritual maturity? What does Presbyterian mean? What does this church believe about spiritual gifts and women in ministry?
With so many different denominations and belief systems surrounding us, we want to know what a church believes. This class is designed to answer these questions and to introduce people to the beliefs, ministries, and mission of SPEP. This class is open to everyone from visitors and regular attenders, to long time members. Attending this class in no way obligates you to join SPEP, but you do have to attend to become a member. |

Minor Prophets
“Actually,” says the teacher, “there is nothing ‘minor’ about them, except in the volume of their writings.’ Their important messages to us become extremely contemporary as we note their various situations and learn how they dealt with many of the same problems we are facing today. In these studies, we shall seek to discover more fully God’s will for our lives and become stronger witnesses for him in the midst of a dying world, and in a nation, much like ancient Israel, where our forefathers were once devoted to God’s divine sovereignty.”

Church Leadership: what you need to know
Sunday evenings in October
Have you ever wondered, “What does it mean to be an elder in the church?” Or, “What is a deacon?” Do you feel called to be an elder, a deacon? Have you noticed that our elders, pastors, and deacons are all men – and wondered why? Each November SPEP asks members to nominate and elect elders and deacons – this is your right and responsibility. But what does God’s word say about church leadership? How can you identify those who should lead? How can you know if you’re called to lead? Why does our church practice leadership in one particular way? This class offers answers. Join Pastor Brian LoPiccolo for study, discussion and prayer, to help us grasp the Bible’s description of church leadership. You’ll be equipped to nominate leaders who are called to minister at SPEP: leaders who are committed with Jesus to mend broken lives. Join us! Sunday evenings in October at 6:30 pm, beginning Oct. 4.
