First chili cookoff - the winning chili

Phil Haines’ Chili

Ingredients:

2.5 to 3 lbs of ground beef
29oz can of tomato sauce
40.5 oz can of dark or light red kidney beans - drained and rinsed
2-16 oz jars of Pace hot salsa
1 medium sized onion
2-yellow, red, or orange bell peppers
1 16oz bottle of beer
4 cloves of fresh garlic
2 tbs salt, ground black pepper, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic    powder
8 to 10 pepperocini peppers
4 tbs diced jalapenos

Directions:

Pour beer, tomato sauce, salsa, and kidney beans (drained and rinsed) into a large pot, set cook top to low. Add salt, pepper, chili powder, onion powder and garlic powder and stir. Dice the onion, bell peppers, and pepperocinis. Add to pot and stir. Take 4 garlic cloves and use a garlic press to press garlic into the sauce. Add 4 tbs of diced jalapenos and stir sauce. Break apart the ground beef and add to sauce. Leave chili on low and let simmer for a few hours till done. The chili is always better after sitting overnight, but it's not bad right away. Enjoy
