Michele Prince
Director of Children’s Ministries
The Bible verse which guides me in my work is Colossians 2:2, 3:
My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
It’s pretty easy for kids in our culture—even kids from Christian homes—to get caught up in chasing after popularity, fame, riches, physical beauty and status. What I want them to know is that these things are nothing compared to the treasures that are ours in Christ. As Christians, we are children of the King of creation and we are going to live forever. God is real, and living in Him is a rich and rewarding journey. He moved heaven and earth to place our Covenant children in Christian homes where they would be trained to live for Him. How awesome is that!
Children are a reward from the Lord (Psalm 127:3) and I want our children to realize the tremendous value they have in Christ and to value the things that God values. I’m praying that all our children will know God and His Son Jesus intimately. And I pray that as they discover the “hidden treasures” in Christ, they’ll realize that Jesus is enough and be satisfied with nothing less.
