Children’s Sunday school is offered for children 2 years old through 5th grade. Jesus is the emphasis of all our teaching, pointing the children to Christ our Savior through singing, prayer, Bible teaching and serving others.
Our purpose in Sunday school, as in all our ministries to children, is supporting families in leading their children to faith in Christ and reflecting God’s glory in all of life. Psalm 78 is our guiding scripture as we endeavor to tell the next generation the “praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done” (Psalm 78:4).
Each week children ages 4 through 3rd grade participate in an opening assembly in our auditorium where we are led in worship through singing. We are visited monthly by two dog puppets, Spot and Scruffy, who always have an engaging and practical lesson to share with the children.
We learn about missions around the world through visiting missionaries who share their experiences of God’s faithfulness. We participate in ministry by bringing in food for the needy in our community, collecting toiletries and small gifts for women and children in a local shelter, and filling backpacks with warm clothing and blankets for the homeless in Baltimore.
The children also bring offerings to support four needy children through Compassion International and write letters to encourage these children living in impoverished conditions in Bolivia, Kenya, Haiti, and India.
