Vacation Bible School is an interactive celebration of the salvation offered to us through Jesus. VBS involves children in the life and times of biblical days. Children and volunteers come in biblical costume and learn the trades of the day in the Marketplace, participate in high energy songs, and “travel” to the mission tent where they learn about foreign and local mission work.
Children also get to participate in mission work like bringing food items for the church pantry which helps feed the needy in our own community, and raising money for important projects overseas, like safe housing for street children and translating the Bible into new languages. Each year we invite visiting missionaries to share their experiences with the children.
Drama presentations, a petting zoo, craft activities, snack time with modern and biblical foods, and daily lessons taught in character by a biblical figure all make VBS at Severna Park EP the most exciting week of summer vacation. Children prepare songs to sing at a special Parent Night presentation on Thursday and the week closes with a family picnic on the church lawn on Friday.
Our program takes place Monday–Friday mornings the first full week after July 4th each summer. |
