Nov. 8, 2011
The entire morning of November’s meeting of Chesapeake Presbytery was devoted to an inspiring and convicting teaching on prayer, along with extra time devoted to prayer.
Our work included:
- Two complaints from SPEP were addressed by Presbytery – one complaint from an SPEP member against Presbytery and another from an SPEP member against SPEP. We are grateful to be part of a larger body which can help adjudicate our differences. Other leaders with the same convictions but without a personal bias help us keep our conflicts open to the light and focused on resolution.
- Concerns about the evolving doctrine of a Teaching Elder from another church led to his voluntary demission of the ministry.
- As always, we heard a number of reports, including an uplifting testimony from a college student involved in RUF and an exhortation from our local missions committee to get back involved in church planting.
